MATT KINGSLEY HISTORY:Matt’s motorsport career began with karting when he was eight years old. After nine years of karting in which he achieved considerable success, he progressed to the Futureracer, Lotus and V8 Ute categories. Highlights included winning the 2005 Lotus Class B Championship and a top six finish in the 2007 V8 Ute Championship. During the opening round of the 2008 V8 Ute season Matt was involved in a sickening, multi car high speed collision which left Matt with serious injuries. After three months in hospital, he returned to work and began thinking about his future involvement in motorsport. He decided to sit out the rest of 2008 to concentrate on his rehabilitation and to find a new series to join for 2009. After much consideration it was decided that Matt would join the Porsche GT3 Cup challenge as it is professional but not cut throat and involves the best and safest sports cars in the world. Matt had an amazing comeback to motorsport finishing 8th overall at the opening round at Bathurst and going on to win the next four consecutive rounds of the championship. He wrapped up the 2009 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge title in the closing round at Sandown in November. Matt also gained lap records at Morgan Park and Sandown and a bunch of new comrades in the process. |
